Gastrono-me to open second site in Cambridge

Looking ahead, future target locations for the business include sites in Brighton, Oxford, Cheltenham, Reading, Bath and Cardiff

Gastrono-me Restaurants has revealed plans to open a second site in Cambridge in March 2022 as it looks to expand the group across the UK.

The group, which currently operates only one site in Bury St Edmunds, first announced its expansion plans for the all-day concept last year.

Founders Gemma and Mike Simmonite said the group’s second venue will be housed in the former 2,500 sq. ft Bella Italia site on Cambridge’s Bridge Street.

The all-day offering at the new 130-cover restaurant will include individual breakfast, brunch and dinner menus that revolve throughout the day alongside local-roastery coffees, cocktails, mocktails, wine and beers.

Bottomless Brunch will also run every day from 10am-2pm and children’s menus and takeaway will also be available.

Looking ahead, future target locations for the business include sites in Brighton, Oxford, Cheltenham, Reading, Bath and Cardiff.

Co-owner Gemma Simmonite said: “Mike and I met at drama school and turned our lives upside down to become bakers. We found our calling in Gastrono-me back in 2011 and are now realising our dream of expanding our business into other parts of the UK.

“We love the historic market town feel we have in Bury St Edmunds, and Cambridge holds that same charm but on a city level. It’s the perfect setting for the next stage of our adventure and we’re so excited to become part of the city’s buzzing restaurant culture.”
