Claude and Lucy Bosi to open Josephine in Fulham

Will Smith, previously of Arbutus and Wild Honey, has been appointed as the bistro’s general manager

Michelin-starred Claude Bosi and Lucy Bosi are set to open their new French bistro Josephine on Fulham Road at the end of January 2024.

Inspired by and named after Claude’s late grandmother, this will be the couple’s first joint venture to date – a restaurant “reminiscent of the traditional Bouchons so often frequented by Claude and Lucy in his hometown of Lyon”.

Claude, who most recently opened Brooklands at The Peninsula, will develop and oversee the menu, serving the food that Josephine used to cook him.

There will be French bistro classics and regional Lyonnaise specialities, with a daily plat du jour and a set “Menu Des Canut” also on offer, named after the term ‘canut’ for Lyonnais silk and lace weavers.

Josephine’s wine menu features the typical Bouchon-style metre wine, which allows guests to only pay for what they drink, encouraging them to try something new. There will also be a bin-end menu available.

Will Smith, previously of Arbutus and Wild Honey, has been appointed as the bistro’s general manager.

The 76-cover space is reminiscent of Lyonnaise restaurants and includes a semi-private area at the back of the dining room behind a curtain.

The new bistro has been designed by Fabled Studio, drawing inspiration from Lyon’s historic Bouchons and the city’s rich cultural heritage.

Claude Bosi said: “We’re incredibly excited to bring a little piece of Lyon to Fulham with the opening of Josephine. This restaurant is a very personal project for us, an ode to my grandmother and the traditional Bouchons of Lyon that have always held a special place in our hearts.

“With Josephine, we hope to create a welcoming space that we hope locals, Londoners, and friends from afar will want to keep coming back to. We can’t wait to open our doors and share this special restaurant with the community.”
