The Three Blackbirds to reopen following devastating fire

The Three Blackbirds pub in Woodditton, Suffolk, is to reopen in March after a fire devastated the property in 2018.

The Chestnut Group, which owns the property, said the rebuild work has retained much of the old pub’s “charm and character”, including original features, exposing charred beams and original paintings and photographs saved from the fire.

The reopening will also see the launch of The Barn, with nine completely new bedrooms located at the back of the property, including a bridal ‘suite’, family and dog-friendly rooms.

There will be 100 covers in total including the restaurant, bar, outside terrace, and private dining rooms.

Philip Turner, Chestnut Group founder, said: “We are thrilled to announce The Three Blackbirds will be open again – it is time this charming and much-loved pub is set to return to the community.

“The launch of the fantastic bedrooms, landscaping and upstairs dining areas will breathe new life into the business. The rebuild has been a huge effort from local tradespeople and the team at Chestnut – it has also been disruptive to our neighbours, for which we apologise.”

He added: “The Three Blackbirds team have been waiting two years to open the doors to their customers – almost there.”

Chestnut was founded in 2012 by Turner, who said he established the business to “champion hospitality in East Anglia”.
