New operators will be taking over Star Pubs and Bar’s lease for The Swan, Whitacre Heath.
Andrew Twigg and Mark Hynett of Proper Pubs Ltd will now take on the Midlands site, as well as embark on a joint £500,000 refurbishment with Star Pubs and Bars.
The Swan will be the second pub for the duo, having taken on The Plough in Huddlesford, Lichfield in 2015.
The new site temporarily closed service at the start of January, and will reopen its doors in March following the refurbishment.
Its outdoor area will be upgraded to include an additional 120 seats, whilst a new stone terrace with tables and chairs will also feature in the new garden.
The pub’s interior will be “brought into the 21st century whilst retaining its traditional country pub feel and original features like its beams, flagstones, exposed brick and stone walls and fireplaces”.
The bar will be repositioned, with an additional 35 covers created inside. A wood burning pizza oven and new commercial kitchen will also be added, whilst the menu will feature traditional pub food with a “modern-day twist”.
Twigg said: “The Swan is a wonderful characterful pub in a fantastic village location. When we visited it we immediately saw its potential. The changes will improve the look of the pub which together with the menu and the new range of drinks, will give people more reasons to visit.”
He added: “We’re really looking forward to creating a fantastic local that villagers can be proud of, offering great quality food and drinks at a good price.”
Star Pubs and Bars regional operations director, Alun Johnson, said: “We’re delighted to be working with Andrew and Mark to broaden The Swan’s appeal and give it the upgrade it needs.”
Proper Pubs Ltd hopes to add five additional pubs to its portfolio over the next five years.
