The ceiling at Bolton’s Sizzling Palace collapsed on Saturday night, injuring six people in an incident the restaurant called “not a major incident” in a statement.
Firefighters were on the scene at the Indian restaurant at around 10:30pm to rescue trapped diners, however while the incident was ongoing staff continued as normal with one man saying on Facebook that they “kept serving other customers as it happened”.
Another review from the night left on the restaurant’s Facebook page said: “A roof falls down and the people affected and hurt aren’t even acknowledged or spoken to by any staff or manager as they’re too busy serving other customers instead.”
Customers lifted the ceiling panel off of the customers below with the help of firefighters, with one person claiming to the BBC that “not one [manager] came down to ask if anyone was ok”.
The managers at the restaurant have denied the accusations of not being available by saying that they were too busy dealing with 999 calls to come on to the shopfloor.
Five people were taken to hospital following the incident suffering with cuts, bruises and minor injuries.
Catering Today tried to contact the restaurant for comment but a the number would not connect at the time of writing.
