Ali Nia has been named as partner and GM at The Drunken Butler Restaurant in Farringdon.
Nia, who was formerly general manager at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, has teamed up with Yuma Hashemi at the Clerkenwell-based restaurant, strengthening its front-of-house and management team.
In his new role, Nia will work alongside Hashemi to oversee the restaurant’s operations, with a strong focus on service and team development.
The Drunken Butler was launched by Hashemi in December 2017 and serves French cuisine with Persian influences on Wednesdays to Saturdays. The daily changing tasting menus aims to offer guests a “unique blend of dishes” developed by the team, served alongside wines from an extensive list of small, artisanal producers.
On Sundays, the intimate 24-cover restaurant serves Persian feasts, tapping into Hashemi’s cultural roots and childhood experiences.
His previous roles also include restaurant manager at the two-Michelin starred Andre in Singapore, restaurant manager and wine director at Pennyhill Park Hotel and Spa, as well as head sommelier at the one-starred Acquarello in Munich.
Nia said: “I am delighted to join Yuma and the team at The Drunken Butler. I‘ve known for some time about how special this restaurant is, and it’s great to be part of the next chapter in its story.”
Hashemi added: “I’m very excited to have Ali on board. His experience and front-of-house knowledge is exceptional, and will be invaluable as we look to build on what we’ve already achieved at the restaurant since it opened.”
