Alain Ducasse appoints new head sommelier

Martin Kleveta has worked in the wine industry for over six years and was previously assistant head sommelier at HIDE London

The Dorchester hotel has recently announced the appointment of Martin Kleveta as head sommelier at the three Michelin-starred restaurant Alain Ducasse

Kleveta will be working closely with the team including chef patron Jean-Philippe Blondet, head chef Alberto Gobbo through to assistant head sommelier Maxime Lamour.

He has worked in the wine industry for over six years and was previously assistant head sommelier at HIDE London, a Michelin star restaurant and bar by Hedonism Wines and Ollie Dabbous.

He has experience in creating a top-level sommelier service for his guests, managing a team of sommeliers and providing sommelier development and training. Kleveta has also worked as a sommelier across leading restaurants including Orrery and Dinner by Heston Blumenthal.

The award-winning sommelier was recently announced as one of the finalists for Taittinger Sommelier of the Year 2023 and was also named as the first UK ‘Master of Port’ by The Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto (IVDP). 

In 2023, he was announced as one of the Top five young sommeliers and also featured in the Top 100 sommeliers for 2023.

On joining Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, Kleveta noted: “I’m looking forward to working with the team and showcasing to guests a selection of the most exciting and iconic bottles in the world of wine. 

“I will work closely with the chef patron and the restaurant director to curate wine pairings based around the menu, which changes seasonally”.
