Wagamama to reopen 67 sites amid Covid-19 pandemic

Wagamama has announced it will reopen 67 of its sites for delivery and collection by the end of June.

The restaurant has revealed from tomorrow (21 May) 24 of its sites will reopen, following a further 20 to be opened next week (28 May).

The move comes after Wagamama temporarily closed its sites following government guidelines amid the Covid-19 pandemic. During the lockdown, the restaurant also launched its home cookery guide, ‘Wok From Home, which includes Asian cookery lessons presented by Wagamama’s executive chef, Steve Mangleshot.

Emma Woods, Wagamama CEO, said: “Over the past couple of months our focus has been on creating a safe working environment for our team members and our two-week trial has enabled our teams to return to work safely.

“The next logical step for us is to open additional sites throughout the UK, this will still be very much for a test and learn approach for the business. The response of our return has been extremely positive and we look forward to our guests being able to get their Wagamama fix.”

The news follows the reopening of other restaurants and fast food chains such as KFC, Shake Shack, Five Guys and Nandos, alongside coffee chains such as Costa and Pret A Manger.
