Shepherd Neame managing director to step down
The pub group stated that in the light of its decision to reduce the number of its managed houses, the company plans to reorganise roles and responsibilities to reflect the composition of its pub estate

Shepherd Neame has announced that Jonathon Swaine, managing director, Pubs, will step down from his role as a director of the company on 17 April 2025.
Swaine leaves the business after nearly three years in the role.
Before joining Shepherd Neame, Swaine held senior positions at Fuller Smith and Turner, including operations director for Quality Managed Pubs and Hotels, and managing director of Fuller’s Inns.
In addition to his work at Shepherd Neame, he currently serves as chair of the Hospitality and Leisure Advisory Board at Pennies.
The pub group stated that in the light of its decision to reduce the number of its managed houses, the company plans to reorganise roles and responsibilities to reflect the composition of its pub estate.
These roles will report to Jonathan Neame, CEO, and Mark Rider, CFO, who will take on added responsibilities.
The news comes after Neame was officially appointed as High Sheriff of Kent earlier this month.
Richard Oldfield, chairman, said: “The board would like to thank Jonathon for his contribution over the past three years, and for developing our pub business so as to be well positioned for the future. We wish him well in his next endeavour.”
