East Devon pub ‘significantly damaged’ after roof fire

It is understood that no one was harmed in the fire, and as of today, Monday 6 April the pub intends to resume its takeaway food services

The thatched roof of a pub in East Devon has been “significantly damaged”, after it caught fire on Sunday 4 April. 

Local Firefighters in the area arrived at the White Hart in Wilmington after 12pm on Sunday to treat the blaze – with the team working until 17:25pm to ensure the building was tended to correctly. 

The owners of the pub took to Facebook to announce the incident – describing the situation as “disastrous” and called on locals in the area to help “clear the garden and grounds”.

The White Hart Inn said: “We are very pleased to be able to resume our takeaway services.

“We’re a little bit overwhelmed by the number of people that turned up, by the number of messages that we received, by the cards and flowers we received. We are very grateful for your support.”
