Esquires Coffee is looking to double its UK branch network from 70 sites to 140-150 over the next three years. A recent growth push has seen the opening of 17 new outlets in areas across the UK. The brand is now aiming to open at least 10 new UK stores by the end of its financial year in March 2025.
Drinks sales rose 0.7% above the same week in 2023. While the rise was a “very modest” increase, it raised hopes that festive occasions may start to unlock more consumer spending after a tough autumn in the on premise category. However, sales were then down by between 0.3% and 3% from 13 to 15 November, before a flat Saturday (16 November).
UKH has called for the creation of a Foundation Economy Sector Council, in response to the consultation on the Industrial Strategy. It comes after the impact of the autumn budget on sectors like hospitality is said to demonstrate “the risks of focusing only on a small number of high economic productivity sectors”.
Hydes’ pub The Harry Beswick has received an award and a commemorative plaque. The Heswall Society Outstanding Building Award recognises the brewery’s commitment to preserving and revitalising a historic building. The former site of Heswall Police Station, The Harry Beswick is named after its local architect known for his Edwardian designs.
