Hospitality figures protest Covid-19 passports

As lockdown restrictions slowly ease across the UK, government ministers are considering implementing Covid passports as a way to prove members of the public have been vaccinated

Over 60 restaurant, nightclub operators and other hospitality figures have reportedly told Boris Johnson that they will not force customers to show Covid passports.

According to The Telegraph, the opposers have written to the PM to show their disapproval of the Covid certification being used in hospitality settings.

It is understood that the signatories include Electric Star Pubs, Bocca de Lupo, Proud Cabaret, Brindisa and Burger and Lobster.

Reports suggest that these passports will allow people into heavily populated areas such as clubs, theaters and sporting events.

Alan Miller, the co-founder of Night Time Industries Association, who organised the letter, told the Telegraph: “The British people have been diligent and remarkable over this last year, and we’ve all waited for so long to get back to normal.

“We were told in January that vaccines were our way out, and that we were on a one-way road to freedom. It is a far cry from freedom if we are put in the position where pubs, clubs, festivals, shows and venues of any kind are forced to demand health papers. We won’t be doing it.”
