The London Museum has announced the appointment of Green and Fortune as the exclusive catering partner for its new home in Smithfield, ahead of its opening in late 2026.
The 10-year contract, which was awarded to Green and Fortune following a competitive tender process, will see the caterer develop and operate four food and beverage outlets, including restaurants, bars and grab-and-go cafes.
The partnership is expected to create 80 jobs, and marks a period of growth for Green and Fortune, with projected revenues of more than £20m for 2026.
Located in the Victorian General Market, the museum covers 150,000 square feet. Green and Fortune will manage venue hire for private events, ranging from gala dinners to product launches.
The museum expects to welcome more than two million visitors annually. Menus will focus on locally sourced produce to reflect the food heritage of the Smithfield area.
Founded in 2008 by chief executive John Nugent and Peter Millican, the company also operates at Central Hall Westminster and Sea Containers Events.
The firm recently appointed Sarah Miller as managing director and Dan Rampart as chef director. Nathan Lamb, director of experience and enterprise at London Museum, oversaw the appointment.
Nugent said: “The ambitions and scale that the London Museum project brings, are rare to find. The opportunity to deliver a raft of new styles of service that represents the city, past and present, is incredible.”
Miller said: “It was clear to us from the outset that this project was an opportunity like no other. An opportunity to work as true partners: delivering some genuinely innovative hospitality concepts.”
Lamb added: “Through our partnership with Green and Fortune, we’ll build on the rich heritage of our local neighbourhood and celebrate London’s vibrant food culture as a core part of the museum’s offer.”
