Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant appoints new head chef
The Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant in Lyme Regis, west Dorset, has appointed Chris Chatfield as its new head chef.
At the property, Chatfield will take the helm at both the Ammonite Restaurant and the Alexandra Restaurant. He said for his first menu he seeks to make the most of the “wealth” of local Dorset produce, as well as bringing a “fresh spin to the dishes”.
Chatfield started his career at The Langdon Court Hotel in his hometown of Plymouth. He then relocated to the Celtic Manor Resort in Wales before moving to Devon, and was then appointed the role of senior sous chef at Islington Country House Hotel and The Horn of Plenty.
Chatfield will also oversee the Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant afternoon tea on the terrace.
Kathryn Haskins, director of Alexandra Hotel and Restaurant, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Chris Chatfield to the Alexandra Hotel & Restaurant – just in time for a wonderful winter season. Chris is a brilliantly talented chef and we are already seeing the fruits of his labour, with much more to come.”
Commenting on his appointment, Chatfield added: “I can’t think of a better place to take the reins than the Alexandra. There is so much scope for both restaurants, and just a wealth of produce from the local area; I can’t wait to really put the spotlight on the food here.”
