The Harp and Castle, a long-established pub on Leith Walk in Edinburgh, has been put up for sale with offers over £800,000.
The venue, first opened as the Tommy Younger Bar in honour of the former Hibernian and Liverpool goalkeeper, has been operated for more than 26 years by current owner Richard Currie. It remains a popular community pub with strong links to local football culture.
Christie and Co, who are handling the sale, said the site offers scope for further growth, including the potential to add food, themed nights or a wider craft beer range. The interior features traditional wood fittings and seating for about 200 people, with an outdoor area for up to 30 guests.
Currie said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to all customers past and present. Without you, the pub wouldn’t have been such a success.”
Senior business agent Simon Watson, who is managing the sale, added: “The Harp and Castle is a perfect example of a traditional pub. It is not very often that a freehold opportunity like this becomes available in such a prominent part of Edinburgh. We expect high levels of interest in this property, so please don’t hesitate to get in contact soon.”
